  • UPMC Health Plan

    This is UPMC Health Plan's medical assistance product. Call 1-800-286-4242 for more information.
  • Medicare
    Medicare is a federal health insurance program offered through the Department of Health and Human Services. The program is for people age 65 and older, some people under age 65 who have disabilities, and people with end-stage renal disease.
  • Pennsylvania Medical Assistance
    Medical Assistance is a state-run medical program and is available to people who meet state eligibility requirements.
  • Medigap
    Medigap insurance is a health insurance policy sold by private insurance companies to fill the gaps in the original Medical Plan coverage. Medigap insurance is also called Medicare supplement insurance.
  • Medicare + Choice (Medicare HMOs)
    Medicare HMOs provide all of the products and services of the original Medicare. There can be enhancements to benefits not covered by Medicare. These can vary from one company to another.
  • U.S. Veterans Benefits

  • Commercial Insurance
    There are hundreds of commercial insurance providers. Coverage varies and can be limited by many factors.
  • Long-term Care Insurance
    This insurance may be purchased privately or through an employer. Additional information is available through the Pennsylvania Department of Insurance at 877-881-6388 (toll-free).

    If you are shopping for long-term care insurance, find out which types of long-term care services and facilities the different policies cover. Check to see if your coverage could be limited because of a pre-existing condition. Make sure you buy from a reliable company that is licensed in your state. If you have long-term care insurance, check your policy or call the insurance company to find out if the care you need is covered.
