Home Health Agency Services

Home Health Agencies must be certified by Medicare to be reimbursed by most insurance companies, including Medicare. Providers of in-home services submit claims to insurance companies first. They will send you statements about the billings. Some insurances that provide coverage or assistance in paying for Home Health Agencies include Medicare, Medical Assistance, managed care organizations, U.S. Veteran Benefits, and commercial insurance. Contact your insurance provider for specific coverage information, including criteria, deductibles, and copays.

Commercial Insurance
Commercial insurance may provide some coverage.

Managed Care Insurance
Managed care insurance companies identify their "network" health systems, and you may have to select a Home Health Agency within that network to receive coverage. Contact your managed care insurance provider to discuss how your Home Health Agency selection may impact reimbursement.

Medicare
Medicare covers Home Health Agency services with a physician's order. Medical Nutritional Therapy, including diet counseling, may be covered by Medicare in some cases.

Medical Assistance
Medical Assistance (MA) covers Home Health Agency services. Contact your MA representative to discuss coverage.
