Funded by the National Institute on Aging,
the Alzheimer Disease Research Center (ADRC) is a formal program
designed to integrate, coordinate, and support new and ongoing research
in Alzheimer’s disease and
aging. Through the ADRC, you can learn about the latest research on
Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
Beckwith
Institute for Innovation in Patient Care
This institute at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center addresses
research, focusing on development of innovative problem resolution
in health care practices. The Beckwith Institute provides individualized
educational and development programs for health care management, staff,
and organizations, as well as leadership and fellowship seminars in "Transformational
Model for Professional Practice in Healthcare Organizations." The
UPMC program supports professionals throughout the system as well as
at health care facilities across the nation.
American Federation
for Aging Research (AFAR)
This federation promotes healthy aging through research, opportunities
for scientists and physicians to exchange information, and consumer
information. Additionally, AFAR is committed to the supporting the
ongoing need for scientists in aging research and geriatric-focused
medicine.

of Health Statistics and Research
This bureau within the Pennsylvania
Department of Health collects and maintains data to assist in planning,
administering and evaluating the health status of Pennsylvania residents
and the quality and quantity of health services within Pennsylvania.
The National Center
for Health Statistics at the Centers for Disease Control
This center compiles statistical information to guide actions and policies
to improve the health of the population, with sites specific to aging

Center for Research and Evaluation at the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing
The University of Pittsburgh is recognized as a major nursing research
center and has attracted national, state, and local recognition for
its commitment to high quality, innovative research. Ranked seventh
in the amount of funding received from the National Institutes of Health
(NIH), the school is engaged in both clinical and basic science research.
