Dr. Strauss is a Developmental Psychologist and former chairperson of the Psychology Department at the University of Pittsburgh. . He is also the founder and former Associate Director of the University of Pittsburgh’s Office of Child Development. His primary area of research has been the development of mental processes in infants and preschool children. More recently, he has been studying the perceptual and cognitive abilities of individuals with autism. His initial work in this area is suggesting that individuals with autism process category and facial information in a way that is different from typically developing individuals and that these differences may have their origins very early in the developmental process. |
