Neil M. Resnick, MD

Neil Resnick is Professor of Medicine, Chief of the Division of Geriatrics at the University of Pittsburgh and Associate Director of Strategic Planning at the Aging Institute. Dr. Resnick has devoted his career to caring for older adults and to studying the causes of incontinence and osteoporosis in this population. Prior to joining our faculty, he spent 20 years at Harvard, where he established the Division of Gerontology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and founded the nation’s first Continence Center.

Dr. Resnick’s research has led to guidelines adopted by the federal government for all incontinent adults, including those in nursing homes. More recently, he was asked to help the World Health Organization to adapt these guidelines for wider use. His work has been honored by awards from the American Urological Association, American Geriatrics Society, International Continence Society, and National Institutes of Health as well as the Simon Foundation for Continence. He has been included in lists of the nation’s best physicians for the past 15 years.
