Medical Students

For medical students, the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine combines clinical and research experience with instruction to enhance students’ understanding of the complex health issues affecting older adults.

The university offers medical students the opportunity to explore a career in geriatrics through:

Medical students, residents, and fellows can acquire a comprehensive approach for practice standards through consultative and primary care experience in traditional settings, the home, sub-acute settings such as rehabilitation and skilled nursing facilities, and long-term care settings such as assisted living and nursing home facilities. Geriatrics training for medical students, residents, and fellows is but one step to becoming tomorrow’s leaders as educators, researchers, and clinical practitioners.
